MARI Program

Madison Addiction Recovery Initiative (MARI) is an innovative local partnership of the Madison Police Department, Connections Counseling, Safe Communities, Dane County Human Services and UW Madison Dept of Family Medicine. The intention of the program is to assist individuals who have overdosed and other opiate offenders apprehended by Madison Police Dept with recovery services rather than referring qualifying non-violent offenders to the criminal justice system. The community organizations are working to provide meaningful support to assist individuals wanting to break the cycle of addiction. Funded services include intake and assessment, case management, coordinated care with appropriate level of local services and a trained peer recovery coach to navigate the challenges early recovery and treatment. Funding for this program from Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMSHA).
